Why Clients Trust Us

Filing for bankruptcy is one of the most personal decisions a person can make. Most of our clients come to us exhausted — from debt collectors calling at all hours, from watching a paycheck disappear to garnishments, from the weight of medical bills that never stop growing.

We take that seriously. Attorney Dan Springer handles every case personally. There is no handoff to a paralegal after the first call. You work with the attorney from the free consultation all the way through your Chapter 7 discharge or your Chapter 13 repayment plan.

The process is designed to work around your life. There are no in-person office visits required. You can start with a free phone call, exchange documents by email, and handle identity verification over Zoom. For most clients, the only court appearance is a short Zoom meeting called the court hearing. You can file from home.

Who We Help in Rockford and Northern Illinois

Our clients come from Rockford, Winnebago County, Boone County, and the Chicago-metro counties of the Eastern Division — Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, and McHenry. All served remotely, from the same firm, with the same personal attention.

Situations we see often:

  • Medical bills after an illness, surgery, or accident
  • Job loss or a drop in income that made payments impossible
  • Credit card debt that has grown far beyond what was originally borrowed
  • A foreclosure or repossession on the horizon
  • Wage garnishments eating into every paycheck

If any of that sounds familiar, see if you may be eligible or call for a free consultation. There’s no pressure and no office visit required.

Frequently Asked Questions About Working With Us

Do I have to come to your office?
No. The firm handles everything remotely. Consultations are by phone, documents go back and forth by email, and identity verification is done over Zoom. Most clients never need to come to an office. Even the court hearing — the only required court appearance in most cases — is held by Zoom video.
What does bankruptcy cost with your firm?
Chapter 7 is a flat $1,000 attorney fee for an individual case ($1,500 for a joint filing). The court’s filing fee is $338 and may be paid in installments. For Chapter 13, it’s $813 to file, and the rest of your attorney fees are built into your repayment plan. We explain the exact amount in your free consultation. See our full fee page for details.
Do I sign documents electronically?
Bankruptcy petition documents require your original, handwritten (wet-ink) signature. We make that simple — signature pages can be mailed or dropped off. There is nothing complicated about the process.
Will bankruptcy stop collections, garnishments, or foreclosure?
Filing for bankruptcy triggers an automatic stay, which in most cases immediately stops creditor calls, wage garnishments, foreclosure actions, and repossessions. Learn more about stopping creditor harassment, stopping wage garnishments, and stopping foreclosure.
